The 4th edition of the Cascais Chocolate Fair will open on 26th February at 4pm. At 4.30pm the exhibition entitled Santa Marta Lighthouses will be innaugurated,. It will be made up of 5 replicas in Callebaut chocolate of 1.5metres of the Santa Marta Lighthouse.
Several chefs, a giant dessert, live music in the evening will be part of this 3 day event.
The Cascais Symphony Orchestra will be holding a New Year Concert at the Estoril Casino on Saturday 16th January at 6pm. The music will include famous arias of Verdi, Leoncavalo with soloist Teresa Cardoso Menezes, waltzes (Edward Strauss) and polcas. The conductor is Nikolay Lalov.
Paula Rego’s latest work entitled ‘Caçadora Furtiva’ (Poacher) is on exhibition in Cascais at the Paula Rego Museum – Casa das Historias Paula Rego. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 6pm.
The 9th edition of the Lisbon and Estoril Film Festival will take place in Lisbon, Estoril and Cascais.
The Cascais Symphony Orchestra will be performing a concert on Saturday 24th October at 9pm at the Auditorio da Boa Nova in Estoril.
Directed by Nikolay Lalov the concert will include soprano Cristiana Oliveira, tenor Diego Cavazzin and bass Deyan Vatchkov.
Music will be from the operas of Rossini Barber of Seville, Verdi’s La Traviata, Mozart’s Don Giovanni.
There will be national and international beers, craft beers and handicrafts as well as live music at night at the Mercado da Vila (Cascais Market). Various breweries will be present such as Agualusa Cascais Brewery, Dois Corvos, Oitava Colina, Rolls Beer etc. Snacks include pork on skewers, cheese from the Alentejo and Sabugeiro cured ham. For the workshops and tasting it is necessary to book in advance. Open from 10am to midnight.
The LUMINA 2015 Light Festival organised by OCUBO will take place in Cascais from 11 to 13 September. The theme of this 4th edition is Four Seasons of Light and more than 40 artists from 15 countries such as Australia, USA, Turkey and Spain will take part. This will include multimédia installations, vídeo projections and interactive sculptures as well as worskhops. Held in gardens, the beach, Cidadela, Cascais Bay and corners of the town all are invited to watch this display of great art. 2015 celebrates the UNESCO International Year of Light. Cascais celebrates its relationship with the sea every year by holding a procession (30th at 3pm) and concerts in the Cascais Bay. This year the Cascais Council has invited Portuguese bands and singers such as Trovante, Pedro Abrunhosa, Ana Moura, Paulo Gonzo, The Gift amongst others – concerts being 8.30pm. The festivities close on 30th August with music from Sinfonica de Cascais followed with fireworks.
Unisports together with the Cascais Town Council are organising a food festival in which various stalls will be selling food in the Estoril Casino gardens from noon to midnight, 23rd to 26th July. There will also be music concerts from pop, rock and jazz as well as various DJs presenting music around the grounds.
