This was named after the Arab poet who was born and raised in Alcabideche in the 11th century. The windmills were referred to in his poems and writings. Windmills were a necessary equipment as much of the population lived from agriculture and supplied the markets of Lisbon and surrounding areas. Just before the Cascaishopping road is a monument to Ibn Mucana.
