Traditional Portuguese Shops: Lisboa

Lisboa has some wonderful little old-fashioned shops, some established in the nineteen hundreds, that specialise in items with exclusive productions. They are located in narrow streets, in the older areas of the city.  Here are a few.

CONSERVEIRA DE LISBOA SELLING CANNED FISH:

Founded in 1930 this small shop sells all types of canned fish, the most famous being sardines.  Its fame is that the tins are individually wrapped with its uniquely designed paper. Rua dos Bacalhoeiros, 34. Tel: +351-218864009. www.conserveiradelisboa.pt

Founded in 1919. Further along from the Conserveira this little shop first started sellng ropes and similar products but in 2006 started selling patés, olive oil, bread, biscuits, chocolates, wines and other items beautifully packaged, from Portuguese producers from all over the country.  It is part of the Museu do Pão (Bread Museum) in Seia. LUVARIA ULISSES: EXCLUSIVE LEATHER GLOVES
